You know who you are!! You’re quirky, fun, a definite sense of style and a trend setter.  If those words don’t frighten you, check out the Lover.ly. site for the most exciting collection of wedding dresses for every kind of bride.  Below are some of my favorite dresses for the non-traditional bride and the hair & makeup to compliment your style.  Choosing a non-white dress that has a big personality all it’s own, means that your hair and makeup should only be inspired by the dresses color, texture and style, not matching all 3.  This is how you pull off a non-traditional dress without it looking like a costume party and you’re the only one that didn’t get the memo!

This Kelly Faetanini, ombre feather gown is the perfect dress for showing just a hint of your less than conservative style.  Princess at the top and party at the bottom.  A strong bold lip with a color from LTW Custom Cosmetics called Fangbanger will balance the colors of the ombre feather tones and make the look cohesive.  Line and softly smudge the eyes with MAC shadows Sketch on the lid and Vanilla at the brow bone so the color theme goes with the dress but isn’t purple, matchy matchy!   Finish the look with lash extensions from Xtreme using the Volumation technique for a full, feathery look unlike traditional extensions.  Hair can be pulled back with no loose ends that might look like they’re trying to match the bottom!  The lashes and hair should be inspired by the feathers not matching the feathers to make sure you don’t go too over the top.

This champagne, show-stopping dress by Oscar de la Renta is covered in golden floret paillettes that take 900 hand hours to complete.  The perfect makeup is minimal, neutral bronze.  A little goes a long way.  The Urban Decay, Naked Palette combines the best colors for every skin tone.  A nude gloss, like Back to Beige from Armour and NYC mosaic shimmer bronzer complete the bronze goddess look.  A classic, French twist will raise the elegance level of the hair and complete the look with a simple, gold pin where the twist folds.  The gold specks in the gown and can be lightly simulated in the hair pin, shimmer eye lid color and cheek bronzer, so when the light hits the gown and skin at the same time, you’ll look like you have an angelic halo surrounding you as you glide down the aisle.

The third dress is for the woman that commands and demands respect.  Red is a color of power, boldness and super sexy.  With a dress like this, you can actually get two different looks just by changing the lip color.  A nude lip like the above Back to Beige gloss, would be perfect for the ceremony and a bold true red, like Ruby Wu from MAC for the reception.  The eyes need to be simple but sexy, so I recommend a soft silver, shimmer cream shadow from Laura Geller with Xtreme Lash Extensions and their black Glideliner, that is smudgeproof, which is so important for this look to remain flawless.  This flamenco inspired gown means you can slick the hair back or if you want to keep it more soft, a low ponytail, swept to one side, over the shoulder would be very glamorous.  Since the bottom of the dress is so layered, full and whimsical, the hair and makeup should balance it, so the eye can easily travel from the head to toe and understand the flow!
